PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation offers $250,000 Scholarship Grants this Year

April 9, 2008  Our Foundation's Scholarship Awards are offered to high school graduates who are prepared to continue their studies at a college or university. In doing so we provide an opportunity to achieve a higher level of education that provides a platform for greater accomplishments in life. The Foundation also considers applicants among students already attending a university or college.

It is our intent that several Awards be offered annually, ranging up to $10,000 each, depending on the number of recipients, the level of contributions and the resulting size of our Scholarship Fund in any given year.

Each year during the Fall, a social gathering is held, organized by the Foundation, for presenting the Awards and honoring the recipients. The event is open to the general public and attended by the Award recipients, their families and friends, our donors, Foundation officials and dignitaries from the U.S. and Greece.

The Foundation's 2008 Awards Gala will be held on Saturday evening, November 15, 2008, at the University Club of Chicago.

Please print, complete and submit the application together with all requested documentation and a photograph of yourself to our office by mail.

Scholarship Qualification Guidelines & Requirements

  • The PanHellenic Scholarship Awards are available to all U.S. high school graduates and university students of Hellenic descent.
  • High school graduates must have completed a state certified high school, or equivalent, and registered to attend a university or educational institution of similar standing in the USA; proof of registration or proof of acceptance at such institution is required.
  • University students must have completed at least one year of full time study at an accredited university in the USA.
  • Home school study, graduate and post graduate students will not be considered.
  • The PanHellenic Scholarship Awards are offered for the purpose of recognizing students of high scholastic achievement and for providing support to those in financial need. The applicant's scholastic record will be reviewed and constitutes the basis for the selection of the Award winners. One's graduating class rank is an important criterion for granting the Award. When financial need is a consideration, copies of the last two years income tax returns must accompany the Scholarship Application.
  • Applicants are required to write a brief essay that addresses the connections between Hellenic contributions to the world and America today. This will be given serious consideration at the selection process.
  • Scholarships are awarded according to merit, regardless of other scholarships the applicant may have won. The same student may not be awarded a PanHellenic Scholarship Award twice.
  • All applicants must complete this Scholarship Application and submit it together with all required documentation by August 31 each year. The Foundation may change the date at its discretion.
  • All information provided by the applicants is strictly confidential.
  • The Scholarship Award payment may be made jointly in the name of the college or university in which the student has been registered and in the name of the scholarship recipient, for reimbursement to him/her or for credit, as may be required by IRS.
  • Selection of the award recipients is made by the Foundation's independent Academic Committee and its decision is final.
  • Awards will be given to the winners during the Fall at a time and place to be announced.
  • The Foundation may demand return of the scholarship award in the event the funds are not used for the purpose intended or the student discontinues his/her undergraduate studies.
