February 16, Valentine Dinner Dance at St. George Kontos center. Food, fun, music, dancing, romance! All net proceeds will go to the church's "Burn the Mortgage" fund. Contact Rita Kelley (352) 683-9228 for tickets. You can reserve a table for you and your friends $30.00 each. Don't wait, we only have a few seats left!.

March 13, Thursday at 1:00 pm: Regular Meeting. Our speaker will be M. Corley, Supervisor of Elections for Pasco County who will explain voting procedures for the November elections. We all need to make sure we understand the new equipment being used for this election.

CARIBBEAN CRUISE: You Must check out the information for the Caribbean Cruise. the Young at Heart and others in the parish are going on a  spectacular 7-Night Cruise of the Eastern Caribbean, aboard the beautiful Carnival Glory.  It will be departing February 28, 2009, from Port Canaveral. To come you need to make a call and put down a $50 refundable deposit. Many Young at Heart Members have signed up so this is is going to be SO MUCH FUN!! So far we have 40 cabins booked!

April 10, 2008, Thursday at 1:00 is our famous annual Lenten Luncheon. This event is one of THE most waited for events of the year. Our beautiful Greek women will create incredible Lenten dishes with their loving hands to share for this pot luck event. The variety of different delicious dishes created will simply blow your mind as well as fill you up.  This year we will be putting all of our recipes together and taking pictures of our gorgeous cooks to post on our web site and possibly also print into a Lenten Cookbook. After searching the web, I believe that these recipes will be an internet first, and being the first one on the internet is very difficult.

June, 12 Meeting, 1:00 Thursday will be at Niko's Restaurant, located at: 6818 US Hwy 19, New Port Richey, FL, 34652, Phone: (727) 841-8151. The lunch offerings are Greek salad $5.75, burgers $5.95, meatball hoagie $6.25, chicken breast on a Kaiser $$5.95, filet of fish on a Kaiser $5.95, Ham and Swiss Melt $6.55, all sandwiches served with steak fries, tomato and pickle and soup and salad bar can be added for $1.99 or you can have Baked Ziti $7.95, Spaghetti with meatballs $8.95, 8 oz. sirloin $9.95, pork chop $8.45, broiled or fried scrod $8.95, grilled chicken breast $8.95, scrod and shrimp combo $9.95.

July and August - No meetings

September 11, 1:00 Thursday, regular meeting. Athena Cone spoke about what to expect when visiting the emergency room and passed out cardboard lists that we should fill out with our medications and keep with us at all times, along with the signs and symptoms of stroke and heart attack and what you should know in case this happens to someone near you. This is wonderful information for anyone at any age. We hope that our members will be passing this extremely important information on to others. Refreshments will be served.

October 9, 11:30 Thursday: PICNIC will be at Andersen Park in Tarpon Springs, Pavilion 9. This picnic is always a lot of fun, the weather should be lovely at this time of the year! This is a pot luck event so contact Rita Kelley (352) 683-9228 for suggestions or to tell her what you would like to bring. Everyone loves this picnic, the park is lovely and we will be at the same Pavilion 9 which is right on the water. Plates, napkins, utensils, ice and drinks will be provided.

November 13, 1:00 Thursday, Tribute to Veterans and Pizza Party and a special tribute to the veterans in our midst. Don Cone will be showing a special documentary that he created. It should be a lot of fun and a nice way to say "Thank you for your service to our country" to our veterans. Pizza and drinks served.

December 11, 1:00 Thursday, CHRISTMAS Sandwich Luncheon and ICE CREAM SOCIAL our wackiness continues this Christmas season with another Ice Cream Social and chocolate fountain which everybody loved. We will also be exchanging a $5 gift at our gift exchange. Ice cream, sandwiches, munchies and drinks will be served served.

January 2009, 1:00 Thursday, New Year meeting will feather wine, cheese, grapes and vasilopita for all to share. A nice get-together to enjoy fellowship and wish our friends good luck in the New Year.

February  7, 2009, 7:00 pm. Our Annual VALENTINE'S DAY DINNER DANCE, will again be held. This is the best and most talked about event of the year. Our hall will be decorated to the nine's in Valentine attire, again we will feature fabulous food and an even larger Table of Chocolate Decadence for everyone. Dancing, music and romance will fill the air. This event is fun for all married or single, this is the best party of the year. Do not miss out! 

Last Year's Events (2007)

March 14, Wednesday at 9:00am: Photos of our Lenten Luncheon Presanctified Liturgy at 9:00 am will be followed by a Lenten Luncheon. Club members will be bring Lenten dishes for everyone to enjoy. We anticipate that the luncheon will begin sometime before 12:00 noon. Our special guest at this luncheon will be Father Stanley Harakas who will be giving a short talk.  Father Harakas is well-known for his teaching and publishing.  This should prove to be a very enjoyable meeting.
 
April 11, Wednesday at 11:30 am:  Members will be attending the Show Palace Theatre in Hudson, Florida for a wonderful musical extravaganza, "Singing in the Rain."  The doors open at 11:30 am. Dinner and drinks at 12:00 noon will be followed by the show at 1:15 pm.
 
April 13, Friday at : A trip to Christ the Savior Church in Brooksville will be attended by members to hear Father Michael speak. Snacks will be prepared for us by the folks at Christ the Savior. Contact Stella Tsiringas at 352-666-4204, if you plan to go and if you need a ride.
 
April 18, Wednesday at 1:00 pm: Our regular meeting will be held at St. George in the community center. May meeting is will be a grand festival of music and Greek dancing. Socrates Georgeadas, our music spin master will bring his musical equipment and Greek music. We will listen, enjoy, clap, sing, dance and generally have a great time. You should not miss this one, we all love to have a good time. Coffee and munchies provided.
 

Wed, May 9, 2007 at 1:00pm: Our regular meeting will present Hugh Townsend speaking on changes and details concerning the Florida Insurance and Tax problems. This should be a great informative speech on subjects that are of interest to all Floridians and snowbirds. Coffee and refreshments. Free to all, just come and join us in the St. George community center.
 

Tues, May 15, 2007 at 11:30am:   Photos of our trip to Tarpon Springs Our next trip "Surf and Turf"  We are all meeting in Tarpon Springs at the boat dock at 11:30 a.m. to take a one hour boat ride into the Gulf to see the wildlife, birds, dolphins and hear the history of the area from our guide. The boat comes back at 1:00 and then we will go down to Hellas Restaurant for lunch. Since we enjoy spending time with each other, this trip will be fun and exciting and provide quality time for fellowship. Be there at 11:30 to join us for this day of sunshine, fresh air and fun. Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 1:00 pm: Our June meeting will be "A day at the Movies." in the St. George community center.  A Greek inspired comedy will be shown called "Do You Want to Dance"  Briefly, it is a comedy about a man who gets in trouble and has to do community service. He gets assigned to a Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago. Popcorn and soft drinks, coffee and munchies provided. No reservations needed, just show up.

Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 1:00 pm:  A speaker from LifeLine Health Screenings will come in to give a presentation and answer questions related to the health screenings to be done starting October 18th. On this date 4 free screenings will be raffled off to 4 lucky people. Be sure to come, you may win!  Refreshments will be provided

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 1:00 pm:  A pizza party has been planned so bring your appetite and smiling face!  Drinks will also be served.

October 18, 2007 LifeLine Health Screenings will be coming to St. George with all of their equipment to do health screens on all who wish to participate.  On this date 4 free screenings will be raffled off to 4 lucky people. Be sure to come, you may win!

For $129 you will receive 4 Screenings in less than 1 hour

  1. Stroke Screening/Carotid Artery. This test looks for plaque buildup in your carotid artery which may lead to a stroke. (seperately $45)

  2. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) this test checks for anything which may lead to an aortic aneurysm which may in the abdominal wall. (seperately $45)

  3. Peripheral Arterial Disease: This test is an ultrasound for plaque buildup in the arms and legs which may inhibit your blood circulation. (seperately $45)

  4. Osteoporosis Screening: Ultrasound screens for abnormal bone mass density. (seperately $35)

The complete package of 7 tests is $199, that includes the 4 tests above plus three blood tests: complete lipid panel, CRP blood test and blood glucose test.

The blood package only is $99 or get each blood test on an individual basis.

Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 11:30am:  Presenting at the SHOW PALACE DINNER THEATRE "SOUTH PACIFIC" The doors open at 11:30am, dinner is served at 12:00 noon, and the show starts at 1:15pm. There is a large buffet salad bar, several entrees and vegetables to choose from and desserts and drinks. Cost: $37.00 each. Located at 16128 US Highway 19, in Hudson. Sunday, October 21 John Legg, Pasco County Legislator will be speaking after the Divine Liturgy and  this is open to all parishioners.

Thursday, October, 25, 2007: Picnic in A.L. Anderson Park located in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Everyone will be bringing a different dish, and the Club will be providing the hotdogs and buns, condiments, paper and utensils, ice and napkins. Rita Kelley and Toula Ronningen are coordinating this picnic and more details and a map will be handed out at our October 10, 2007 Pizza Party meeting. Tuesday, November 6, Bus and Boat Tour: we will be taking a bus trip to Tampa Bay and then a one hour boat tour around the Tampa bay. The approximate cost will be around $32 (includes $16 for bus, the boat is free and you will pay for your own lunch when we get to the Spaghetti Factory Restaurant in Ybor City.  Thursday, November 14 meeting will be a speaker on Agricultural and Landscaping and drought resistant planting in Florida. Refreshments will be provided.

Wednesday, December 12 meeting: our Christmas meeting will include a $5 gift exchange (ladies bring a ladies' gift and men bring a gift for a man) also we will have an Ice Cream Social complete with a Chocolate Fountain! Elections will be held.
