Calendar  |  Valentine Dance | Lenten Luncheon

Our Annual 2008 Pot Luck Lenten Luncheon was again, one of our best meetings. It is absolutely incredible how many different dishes can be made and still
stay within the Lenten guidelines for fasting during the Great Lent. Although Fr. Michael has explained many times that the way that you
fast is entirely up to you. (Also, if you are not well, you are not supposed to fast). Lent begins with Meat Fare Sunday, which means we
do not eat meat. The next Sunday, called Cheese Fare Sunday, is the last day when cheese, butter, and eggs may be eaten. On that day
a typical meal includes pasta, salads, and sweets. The next Monday is Pure Monday, the first day of the forty-day fast when a strict fast may
be observed. No meat, fish, milk, butter, cheese, or eggs are to eaten until Easter Sunday. You are very good indeed if you are able to
follow all of the guidelines! Many only fast on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. However, most comply with the strict diet during Holy Week.

Father Michael gave a wonderful speech with the high points going over all the important days of Lent and Holy Week and the meanings and and
how we should prepare ourselves for Easter when our Lord gloriously rose from the dead, defeating death by death.

However, the real stars of this Luncheon are the beautiful people below who prepared these delicious dishes with loving hands to share with
